OpenIntro is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we welcome donations. Funds support product development costs, promotional costs such as sending free desk copies to teachers (industry standard), and more.

We also encourage interested persons to donate to Foundation for Open Access Statistics and Creative Commons.

Research by the U.S. PIRG Education Fund and the 2012 Florida Textbook Study found that "65% of student consumers have opted out of buying a college textbook due to its high price," and 94% of those students know they suffer academically from that decision.

At OpenIntro, we're working to disrupt one of the least-free markets you can find. Teachers choose the textbook, but students pay for it, meaning only teachers can stop sky-high textbook prices. It's our mission create high-quality yet inexpensive textbooks, which inherently have significant educational advantages over expensive textbooks.
